Biography

Emily Koehler is an American lens-based artist working primarily in digital photography. She is from Midlothian, Texas, and currently lives and works in Denton. Her work consists of landscapes and abstractions that explore the complicated beauty and chaos of urbanization, intimate and messy human relationships, and the growth, loss, and change humans experience due to the passage of time. Her work explores the inherent beauty in the mundane that is often missed in everyday life. She is influenced by the act of wandering, the work of Lewis Baltz, and her hobbies of writing poetry and reading.

Emily is currently in her fourth year of her BFA from the University of North Texas, majoring in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography and minoring in Art History. She has exhibited in several group shows at this university. She has also assisted a commercial photographer in the DFW area to further her professional experience.
