Biography
Hey, it's Emily.
I am an American lens-based artist working primarily in digital photography. I am from Midlothian, Texas, and currently work in Denton. My work consists of landscapes and abstractions that explore the complicated beauty and chaos of urbanization, intimate and messy human relationships, and the growth, loss, and change humans experience due to the passage of time. My work explores the inherent beauty in the mundane that is often missed in everyday life. I am influenced by the act of wandering, the work of Lewis Baltz, and my hobbies of writing poetry and reading.
I am currently in my fourth year of my BFA from the University of North Texas, majoring in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography and minoring in Art History. I have exhibited in several group shows at this university with my peers in the spring and summer of 2024 and the late fall of 2024. I have also assisted a commercial photographer in the DFW area to further my professional experience.
