Archival Shadows
This series is photographic research of shadows in which I explore how light and dark interacts in spaces around the University of North Texas campus in which I attend. I pondered what shadows were and how often people stop to observe them when they are constantly around us. I concluded that shadows are archival in that they prove an object’s existence, whether we notice the physical objects the shadows reflect or not. I wanted to voice this conclusion in my series by photographing the unique interactions of shadows in spaces that I feel are overlooked. These images comment on industrialization, arguing that urban landscapes can be beautiful if we stop to appreciate the mundane things, like the interactions of shadows around us.
