The Here and There: Windows into Time
This body of work consists of photographic research of the past and the present of the city of Denton via its window and door reflections. I explore my relationship with this city I moved into for college by photographing spaces that I frequently visit and that fuel my curiosity. While exploring the UNT campus and Denton Square, I stumbled upon intriguing window and door reflections that reveal the buildings' histories and reflect their present-day surroundings. Sometimes the past and the present are visible simultaneously through these vessels, merging into a confusing visual landscape that challenges the idea that what we see is the truth. Engaging with these spaces makes me consider how people have impacted Denton in the past and how I will impact this city in the future. These images aim to envelop the viewer in these fascinating visual landscapes that will make them ponder Denton's history as well.
