Seen, Heard, and Known by You
This project, titled “Seen, Heard, and Known by You,” is part of my “Fester” series. This series is based on a collection of songs and poems I have written about a past relationship. This art book focuses on the lyrics of a song in this collection titled “If We Were Together,” which is about the conflicting emotions I had during a recent breakup. I created my book to resemble a lyric booklet that one would get when purchasing a CD album to form a visual connection between the book and its source of inspiration. I wanted this lyric booklet to feel like a diary since songwriting is a way to express my emotions. Through images, scribbles, and varying handwritten fonts, this book aims to convey the hypocritical, rollercoaster-like emotions I felt after the breakup: longing, frustration, and regret. It is about missing the very person I broke up with and wistfully thinking about how things would be different if we were still together.
